Challenge:
Our client, a member services organisation in the healthcare sector, wanted a new approach to developing and delivering their strategic business plan whilst ensuring clear line of sight and understanding throughout the organisation of the company vision, mission, and objectives.
Solution:

Our approach was to design and implement a framework based on Hoshin Kanri strategy deployment principles that was suited to the client’s business and that could be easily repeated annually.  Firstly, a deep-dive business diagnostic was carried out at different levels to understand the baseline position and highlight potential areas for improvement, then a series of ‘catch-ball’ workshops were held to develop and agree business objectives, strategic themes, key result areas, and key performance indicators.  Projects and initiatives were then identified to deliver the agreed objectives and metrics, and finally a portfolio governance process was implemented underpinned by the use of Lean Visual Management techniques to regularly drive delivery, track progress, and resolve issues.

Results:

The client was left with a robust strategic business plan that gave clear line of sight and understanding of vision, mission, and objectives across the business.  The catch-ball process and engagement at all levels of the organisation ensured excellent buy-in, and business areas were able to set clear personal objectives based on the plan.
