Performance management

Does your business have complex or significant business challenges that you are unable to resolve? Do your people have the capability and desire to resolve these challenges, and does your organisation have stable processes, systems and data to enable this resolution?

What is Performance Management?

Before an organisation embarks on any improvement or transformation journey, it is imperative to understand and stabilise current performance.

Performance management is an approach that enables organisations to identify gaps in performance through structured forensic analysis and then take steps to close those gaps. Teams and individuals are coached in techniques such as root cause analysis and problem-solving, and opportunities to close gaps are implemented using frameworks such as Define – Measure – Analyse – Improve – Control.

Performance Improvement Approach

The Define - Measure - Analyse - Improve - Control (DMAIC) method provides a structured data-driven approach to problem solving and performance improvement.

Define

Identify the problem or opportunity for improvement
Outline the project goals, scope, and deliverables.

Measure

Collect relevant data and quantify the current condition
Establish a baseline KPI measurement for current and target condition

Analyse

Identify the root cause using tools such as fishbone cause and effect analysis
Test the identified root cause using tools such as 5-why analysis

Improve

Generate potential solutions to address the identified root causes
Evaluate the best solution, plan, implement, and verify success

Control

Monitor to ensure sustained success of the improvements
Standardise and control the improvement, capture lessons learned
